The Charities

Which Charities Are We Supporting?

The most important element of any Len’s Challenge is the fantastic causes that the team and I will be fundraising for.  That’s no different this year, as we’ll be raising money for a pair of very worthy causes – the Children’s Cancer Care – Sierra Leone via the  Cardiff and Vale Health Charity and the Improving Chances charity that I established in 2010. Read on to find out more about their fantastic work.

Children’s Cancer Care Sierra Leone

This initiative is part of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board’s commitment to the Wales for Africa programme a partnership between Welsh Government, health board staff, and expert charities. The charity supports children with cancer and their families by providing lifesaving treatment, equipment and medical expertise to some of  the most disadvantaged groups in our society.

As this initiative is intricately linked with the health board’s charity, donations will be remitted to our Health Charity, which will be in-turn remitted to Children’s Cancer Care in Sierra Leone.

Improving Chances

Improving Chances is a non-denominational registered charity which supports mothers and children in Fort Portal and surrounding districts in rural Western Uganda. The Charity has supported the development of a maternity and children’s hospital in Rwibaale and aims to help children disabled by disease or birth injury by supporting the activities of the Good Shepherd School for children with special needs in Fort Portal.

Please give What you can

I’m sure that you’ll agree that our efforts are all for a pair of very worth causes, and we would really appreciate your generosity and support. Even the smallest donations will soon add up, so I would urge you to please give what you can to support the really worthwhile charities and the important work that they do.

Staying active, raising money and changing lives. Back Len for the CarTen.
