Bwlch Penbarras to Trefor
Len will be departing from The Hut, Moel Famau at 07.30 on June 24th.
On the morning of day two, Len will rejoin the trail at the mountain pass of Bwlch Penbarras. The trail continues through the Clwydian range and for much of the time he will be following the heather-clad ridge that is so prominent in this landscape.
The trail winds past a number of ancient bronze age hillforts such as Foel Fenlli, Moel Arthur and Penycloddiau.
The trail passes above Llyn Gweryd before beginning to descend into the flat farmland surrounding the village of Llandegla.
Len will then begin to climb into the Eglwyseg valley and walk along the dramatic limestone escarpment, hugging the base of the steep hillside and across the scree slops beneath the cliffs.
The trail winds through the valley before passing the impressive Castell Dinas Bran above the River Dee and the town of Llangollen before dropping into Trefor.
The walk will end at the Telford Inn in Trefor.
We estimate that the walk will take 6 hours, 35 minutes but this is subject to change depending on conditions.
This is where Len will stay before continuing on Day Three
