Prestatyn to Bwlch Penbarras
Len will be departing from Cafe Cymru in Prestatyn (LL19 7EY) at 07.30 on June 23rd.
Day One will see Len begin his journey on the North Coast of Wales at the marker stone on the Prestatyn seafront. He will walk up the town’s high street before beginning to climb into the Clwydian Range.
Behind him, the North Wales coast will stretch from Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula in the west to the city of Liverpool in the east.
Len will continue climb through the villages of Rhuallt and Bodfari until he reaches the summit of Moel Famau.
At the top sits Jubilee tower, which was built to celebrate the King George III’s golden jubilee in 1810. From here, Len will be able to see across the entire Vale of Clwyd to the majestic peaks of Snowdonia in the far West.
From here, Len will begin to descend to the Mountain pass of Bwlch Penbarras, which is near the village of Llanbedr Dyffrun Clwyd.
The walk will end at The Hut, Moel Famau, CH7 5SH.
We estimate that this walk will take around 8 hours, 20 minutes. However, this is subject to change due to breaks and weather conditions.
Len will be staying at Ruthin Castle Hotel for the night before continuing southward the following day.
